Week 5 off and running!
John McGloughlin Elementary School's 6th grade classes arrived yesterday during intermittent periods of light rain. Their excitement was enough to brighten the skies, which cleared up by dinner. In the afternoon, the students were introduced to their counselors and ate lunch before being whisked off to the first day of field study. While on the beach, the students explored the tide pools as the tide was unusually low. The beach field study also went digging for mole crabs, and learned about weather patterns of the Pacific Northwest.
All the students returned for a great dinner of spaghetti, followed by brownies for dessert. The evening was spent singing songs around the campfire, including 'Cookie Monster', 'Singing in the Rain', and 'Sigfried the Slug'. We're looking forward to another great day at Camp Westwind!
